2027 NFL DRAFT TRACKER: AUBURN TIGERS
Location: Auburn, AL || Conference: SEC || Head Coach: Alex Golesh (First Year; Career: 23-15) || Number of 2026 NFL Draft Picks: 5 || Tigers in NFL: 41 (as of 5/8/26)
Since the departure of Gus Malzahn in 2020, the Auburn Tigers have now had six head coaches (including interims) with the latest hiring of Alex Golesh from South Florida. The 41-year old headman hopes he can stop the revolving door after elevating the Bulls to a nine-win season, a feat that had not been accomplished since 2017. With turnover at the top, comes roster change and the Tigers added nearly 40 new players from the transfer portal, including a handful of USF players.
The most notable import Golesh brought over with him is quarterback Byrum Brown. The strong-armed commando has thrived operating the up-tempo veer/shoot offense that Golesh likes to implement. Their success together included upset wins over ranked opponents such as Boise State and Florida last season. At Auburn, Brown will have plenty of opportunity to accumulate more wins over top-level competition in the weekly gauntlet known as the SEC and enhance his draft stock even further in the eyes of NFL talent evaluators.
A few mainstays did remain at Auburn, including running back Jeremiah Cobb, a tough, versatile, one-cut runner who enjoyed a career year in 2025, he fell just 31 yards short of his first 1,000-yard campaign on his way to earning All-SEC Third-Team honors. Look for him to eclipse that mark this season and form a potent offense with the newly acquired Brown.
The team also retained defensive standout Xavier Atkins. A violent, physical linebacker, Atkins covers immense ground registering 84 tackles a year ago but can also disrupt the backfield, as evidenced by his 17 tackles for loss (led the SEC) and nine sacks. His draft stock is certainly ascending and another big year looks to be in store.
