2027 NFL DRAFT TRACKER: MISSISSIPPI STATE BULLDOGS
Location: Starkville, MS || Conference: SEC || Head Coach: Jeff Lebby (2 Years: 7-18) || NFL Draft Picks Under Lebby: 2 (1.0 per year) || First Round Picks Under Lebby: 0 || Number of 2026 NFL Draft Picks: 2 || Bulldogs in NFL: 21 (as of 5/14/26)
The Bulldogs landed on the draft board for the first time under head coach Jeff Lebby, with a pair of selections in the 2026 NFL Draft in wideout Brenen Thompson (Chargers) and tight end Seydou Traore (Dolphins). The school had been shutout of the draft entirely the previous year.
After having two players chosen on the offensive side of the ball, much of the NFL scout’s attention will focus on the defensive side in 2026. All-SEC Third Team cornerback Kelley Jones (pic: MSU Athletics) enters the year as one of the top-rated defenders in the conference due to his size, athleticism and performance. Projected as an early round selection, Jones could become the Bulldogs first player chosen on Day 1 since Emmanuel Forbes (currently of the Rams) in 2023.
Another conference standout resides at safety in All-SEC Second Team selection Isaac Smith, who serves as the enforcer of the defense with 206 career tackles and displayed tremendous toughness last season battling through injury. It’s possible that Mississippi State could see three defenders selected in the upcoming draft, which would match their total from the 2024 NFL Draft.
One player worth monitoring is former four-star quarterback Jaden Rashada. Initially committed to Miami, a last second flip to Florida in lieu of a $13.85M NIL deal resulted in a lawsuit. He has since played at Arizona State, Georgia and Sacramento State before landing in Starkville, where he hopes to revive his career.
