Breakout Players
RB Israel Abanikanda - There were flashes of breakaway ability in training camp for Abanikanda, who seemed to hit the rookie wall and struggled with nagging injuries. However, he’ll enter camp as one of the leading candidates to backup Breece Hall and possesses home run ability as a runner, or return man.
DE Jermaine Johnson II - It’s shaping up to be a potential bustout year for the 2022 first round pick. Johnson II assumed a starting role in his second season and is expected to build upon his seven and a half sacks from a year ago and become a double-digit pass-rusher for the Jets.
S Tony Adams - An undrafted gem out of Illinois, Adams became a key member of the secondary in his second season, making 82 tackles including six tackles for loss and three interceptions. He stands to add even more interceptions to his resume playing opposite Sauce Gardner.
2024 NFL Draft Class
Gang Green was all-in on Olu Fashanu, which is hard to argue but one has to wonder how Brock Bowers could have transformed this offense. Instead, they’ll hope that third round pick Malachi Corley can provide a boost in the passing attack, while fourth round selection Braelon Allen is a big, tough, grinding back. At No.176, the Jets scooped up CFL Most Outstanding Rookie Qwan’tez Stiggers, a future NFL starter. Initial Overall Rookie Assessment: Medium Level Impact
