Breakout Players
DE Drake Jackson - Clearly, the 49ers are in seek of pass-rush help. They enlisted the services of free agents Leonard Floyd and Yetur Gross-Matos during the offseason but their best option may reside in-house. San Francisco invested a second round pick in Jackson two years ago with the intent of him working his way into the equation. While the script hasn’t quite materialized, Jackson had surgery to repair his quadriceps and is on track to be ready for training camp. San Francisco is hoping that the added competition can spark a fuse underneath him.
S Ji’Ayir Brown - On the backend, another solid year will be needed from Brown. The third round pick overachieved last season, making 35 tackles and nabbing a pair of interceptions at safety. He’ll be permanently entrenched as one of the starters moving forward.
K Jake Moody - The kicker proved to be well worth the No.99 overall selection, completing a rookie campaign for the ages! Moody connected on 21-of-25 field goal attempts, including six-of-nine from beyond 40-yards, with a long of 57. He also handled kickoff duties and was money on extra points (60-of-61). Moody proved to be one of the best kickers in the NFL during his first year. Â
2024 NFL Draft Class
Did San Fran misjudge the board? Early indications would seem so, with wideout Ricky Pearsall and cornerback Renardo Green chosen in the first two rounds. A team on the brink of a Super Bowl needs immediate contributors. Something that versatile offensive lineman Dominick Puni should be able to do. On Day 3, they enlisted runner Isaac Guerendo and jitterbug receiver Jacob Cowing as the latest offensive weapons. Initial Overall Rookie Assessment: Low Level Impact
