CFL RACE INTENSIFIES DURING FINAL WEEK OF REGULAR SEASON
It’s Week 21 in the Canadien Football League, as they enter the final weekend of regular season play. The Saskatchewan Roughriders (12-7) own the best record and have clinched the West Division. However, they have been very beatable over the past two months with just a 4-4 record down the stretch. In the East Division, should Hamilton defeat Ottawa on Friday night, they will clinch the division. If the Ti-Cats are unable to defeat the Redblacks, then that would open the door for Montreal, who could take the division with a win over Winnipeg on Saturday. The two division winners will receive a first round bye. Other teams who have clinched playoff births include the BC Lions and Calgary Stampeders. In other CFL news, The Montreal Alouettes announced that they have signed senior vice president of football operations and general manager Danny Maciocia and head coach Jason Maas to two-year contract extensions through the 2029 and 2028 seasons respectively.

CONTINENTAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE ANNOUNCES ROSTER OUTLOOK
The Continental Football League, scheduled to kick off in the summer of 2026, announced that they will report to training camp with a maximum of 50 players. The CoFL intends to be a developmental league and will mandate that at least half (25) of the training camp roster must consist of players between the ages of 18-25. The reasons for their decision has been outlined by the following logic. It keeps the league young, fast and hungry. It creates a real developmental bridge for players coming out of college or returning from other leagues and it provides older, more established players an opportunity to build their brand in a local market. The final roster will consist of 36 players and four practice squad spots. In addition, each team must have five local players on its final roster—athletes who played high school or small college football within a Commissioner-approved radius of the team’s home stadium. This rule is designed to strengthen community ties, give local athletes a chance to play in front of their hometown fans and make every CoFL franchise a true reflection of its region’s football culture. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available. If you missed our interview with Continental Football League Commissioner Mike Kelly, you can watch it here.
