INSIDE THE COMBINE: WINNERS FROM INDY
All Access Football is on location for the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine with Kate Carpenter and Brian Baldinger. Tune-in to find out who Baldy’s big winners are from the second day of on-field drills. The defensive backs burned up the turf in Lucas Oil Stadium, while nearly half of the tight ends opted out of the workouts entirely. AAF, bringing you the names you need to know first, since 2002, it’s what we do…
*Combine Q&A: Penn State tight end Tyler Warren meets with the media.
COMBINE: MAXWELL HAIRSTON CRUSHES WORKOUT
One player who is rapidly moving up draft boards would be Maxwell Hairston of Kentucky. The speedy cornerback blazed a scorching 4.28 forty-yard dash, registering 24.25mph during his run! He added a 39.5” and 10-9 broad jump, providing a glimpse into the insane athleticism he possesses. Maxwell has positioned himself to possibly be the second corner off the board after Travis Hunter.
*Baldy’s Breakdown: Alabama run-mauling guard Tyler Booker under the microscope.
COMBINE: JAHDAE BARRON HAS FEW FLAWS
This cornerback class is loaded and we kid you not, Jahdae Barron of Texas might be the best of the bunch. The Thorpe Award winner didn’t disappoint with his combine performance, checking off all the boxes with his 4.39 forty-yard dash (23.30mph), 35” vertical jump and 10-3 broad jump, while looking very fluid in positional drills. He measured in just under 5-foot-11, which is his only knock.
*NFL Combine: GM Les Snead Accepts Best Draft Award on behalf of LA Rams.
COMBINE: BILLY BOWMAN A TRUE BALL-HAWK
One of the premier safeties in this year’s draft Billy Bowman owns a real nose for the football, having come up with 11 career interceptions during his Sooners career. At the combine, he showed off his speed (4.47 forty) and smooth change of direction. It would not be shocking to see Bowman be the first safety off the board, as he reminds us of Eddie Jackson (Alabama/Bears).
*Baldy’s Breakdown: Georgia linebacker Jalon Walker is a pure menace.
COMBINE: MALAKI STARKS HAS SERIOUS RANGE
While Georgia safety Malaki Starks didn’t test as well as some of his counterparts, he excelled in positional drills, showing off his range and quickness. Starks is at his best when he is utilized in a freelance safety role as a centerfielder. This past season, he was asked to play a lot of nickel/man coverage, which left him exposed at times but also demonstrated another skill he’s capable of.
*Baldy’s Breakdown: Texas offensive tackle Kelvin Banks is first round bound.
COMBINE: JACOB PARRISH IS UNDER THE RADAR
Coming in a shade under 5-foot-10, Kansas State cornerback Jacob Parrish doesn’t get talked about nearly enough. A feisty player who does an excellent job jamming wideouts at the line of scrimmage, Parrish does a fantastic job in coverage and plays a physical brand of football. He showed off his finesse in Indy, turning in an impressive 4.35 forty-time (23.84mph), with 37.5” vertical jump and 10-9 broad jump.
*Baldy’s Breakdown: LSU offensive tackle Will Campbell states case as best tackle.
COMBINE: THE MOST INTERESTING MAN IN INDY
The most polarizing player who opted in and did participate in the combine might be Jihaad Campbell of Alabama. At 6-foot-3, 235 pounds, the Crimson Tide linebacker has talent evaluators asking themselves, “Is he an off-ball backer, or an edge rusher?” After displaying rare athleticism and explosion, it’s a question worth exploring. His 4.52 forty and 1.53 ten-yard split is an example of his quickness. There are plenty of ingredients in this Campbell soup.
