2024 NFL MOCK DRAFT FINAL | RIC SERRITELLA
Who will blink first? How many trades will be involved. What order will the quarterback dominoes fall? We do our best to take a stab at how all the drama will unfold Thursday night with our final mock draft of the year!
ROUND ONE
(Photo Credit Tom Pelissero: USC QB Caleb Williams with Washington WR Rome Odunze)
NO. | TEAM | PLAYER | POS | COLLEGE
1. Chicago Bears (via Carolina) – Caleb Williams, QB, USC: The bar has been raised on expectations for rookie signal-callers after the performance we witnessed by CJ Stroud (Texans). Enter Williams who owns the ability to set a new standard and makes the Bears instant contenders.
2. Washington Commanders – Jayden Daniels, QB, LSU: It's a new era in DC and Daniels is a battle-tested, ready for NFL-action prospect but must be more cautious when running free in the open field at the pro level. Reckless running habits and a vulnerable frame could leave him susceptible to dangerous hits.
3. [Projected Trade] Minnesota Vikings – Drake Maye, QB, North Carolina: Minnesota makes the move up with a package that includes No.11 and No.23 in the 2024 NFL Draft, along with a 2025 first round pick. New England maximizes the trade market on Maye but they're not done shaking up the top ten just yet.
4. Arizona – Marvin Harrison Jr., WR, Ohio State: GM Monti Ossenfort has known to be an active broker when draft season rolls around but landing Harrison Jr., the No.1 overall talent on some draft boards, is truly the wisest decision. This is a best player meets biggest need dream come true.
5. [Projected Trade] New England Patriots – JJ McCarthy, QB, Michigan: The Pats parlay the two first round picks acquired from Minnesota and move back up to select McCarthy, while retaining the extra first round selection for next year. Another Michigan man to lead New England at the helm under the new regime is exactly what this organization needs. To be able to stockpile an additional first round pick for 2025 in the process of doing so would be a monumental coup!
6. New York Giants – Brock Bowers, TE, Georgia: With Darren Waller contemplating retirement and the G-Men missing out on the quarterback run, Bowers could be the biggest tight end hit on Broadway since Jeremy Shockey.
7. Tennessee – Joe Alt, OT, Notre Dame: The Titans lost toughness saying bye-bye to Derrick Henry (Ravens) and need to get back to building up the trenches. Alt will do a lot of good for both the ground game and Will Levis.
8. Atlanta – Malik Nabers, WR, LSU: Please do get your popcorn ready because inserting Nabers into the Falcons offense with Drake London, Rondale Moore and Kyle Pitts, with captain Kirk Cousins is must-see TV.
9. Chicago – Rome Odunze, WR, Washington: A flex spot in the draft, as the Bears could find suitors here to move inside the top ten, if they don't make a move up themselves. However, they could stand pat and still land Odunze.
10. NY Jets – Quinyon Mitchell, CB, Toledo: The Jets defense would take a quantum leap up into top-tier status with the addition of Mitchell alongside red-hot Sauce Gardner.
11. LA Chargers (via New England thru Minnesota) – Olu Fashanu, OT, Penn State: Acquiring draft equity, while still landing a foundational building block along the offensive line is sure to bring a smile to the face of Jim Harbaugh.
12. Denver – Michael Penix, QB, Washington: The NFL should be on high alert for the marriage of Penix with offensive mastermind Sean Payton. This has been the most slept on player in the entire draft.
13. Las Vegas – Laiata Latu, ER, UCLA: As much as the Raiders would like to add another signal-caller to the mix, the cost of doing business is likely too great. Instead they get tougher on defense with Latu.
14. New Orleans – Taliese Fuaga, OT, Oregon State: This pick figures to be the best offensive tackle remaining on the board and in this case it's Fuaga who is very physical and aggressive but does tend to get flagged frequently.
15. Indianapolis – Terrion Arnold, CB, Alabama: If the Colts are unable to make a move up for Bowers and miss out on the 'Big 3' wide receivers, adding a blue-chip corner is a smart contingent plan.
16. Seattle – Dallas Turner, ER, Alabama: The Seahawks stand to be the beneficiary of having a top player on the board slide down due to the bump up in quarterbacks; Turner would be the ideal scenario.
17. Jacksonville – Byron Murphy II, DT, Texas: Injecting Murphy II into the middle of the Jaguars defense next to Arik Armstead, would allow Josh Allen and Travon Walker to run loose.
18. Cincinnati – Brian Thomas Jr., WR, LSU: The long-term outlook for the Bengals being able to retain Jamar Chase and Tee Higgins on big money deals is bleak. Cincy plans ahead with Thomas Jr.
19. Los Angeles Rams – Cooper DeJean, CB, Iowa: In the mold of Jalen Ramsey (Dolphins), the versatile DeJean could be used at corner, slot, safety, or return man for the Rams.
20. Pittsburgh – Amarius Mims, OT, Georgia: No doubt raw but talented, Mims would be stepping into a proper environment where he can get coached up and develop into a bookend tackle opposite Broderick Jones.
21. Miami – Xavier Worthy, WR, Texas: Temptation can get the best of us and adding the fastest man in the history of the combine into whiz kid Mike McDaniels' offense will make his imagination run wild.
22. Philadelphia – Jared Verse, ER, Florida State: The Eagles are hot to trot for a cornerback but if they let the board fall to them, they could be in store for a treat in Verse, to off-set the trade of Haason Reddick (Jets).
23. [Projected Trade] LA Chargers (via New England thru Minnesota from Cleveland thru Houston) – Ladd McConkey, WR, Georgia: An innate route runner with super quicks, McConkey is a legit weapon.
24. Dallas – Keon Coleman, WR, Florida State: Cowboys owner Jerry Jones continues to state that the team is 'all-in.' Nothing makes that statement more accurate like adding a new big-play threat for Dak Prescott.
25. Green Bay – Graham Barton, C, Duke: After starting at tackle the past few seasons, Barton is expected to return home to his original center position and could pair with Jordan Love for the next decade.
26. Tampa Bay – Kool-Aid McKinstry, CB, Alabama: There is patchwork needed in the Tampa Bay secondary and McKinstry will help cool down some of the big plays allowed on the backend.
27. Arizona (from Houston) – Darius Robinson, ER, Missouri: Plugging the mammoth-sized Robinson into the bend but don't break Jonathon Gannon defense would seem to be a perfect pairing.
28. Buffalo – Adonia Mitchell, WR, Texas: The jettison of Stefon Diggs (Texans) and departure of Gabriel Davis (Jaguars) makes wideout a major priority. Mitchell is a quick, big-bodied boundary target.
29. Detroit – Tyler Nubin, S, Minnesota: Never afraid to go against the grain, Detroit could pair the ball-hawk Nubin with Brian Branch for a lethal safety combination.
30. Baltimore – Troy Fautanu, OT, Washington: A versatile inside/outside blocker, Fautanu possesses the ability to step in and start at tackle or guard.
31. San Francisco – JC Latham, OT, Alabama: Securing the right side of protection for Brock Purdy is one area where the 49ers seek an upgrade and Latham can help in a big way.
32. Kansas City – Jordan Morgan, OT, Arizona: Downgraded due to arm length, Morgan is a more polished player than many of the tackles who will be chosen ahead of him.
