Welcome to the January 29, 2025 edition of the All Access Football Newsletter, Presented By Sports Management Worldwide Salary Cap & Contract Negotiation Course.
ON LOCATION: 76TH ANNUAL REESE’S SENIOR BOWL
All Access Football takes you along the all-star game scouting trails with ‘The Best of the Best,’ as we ascend upon Mobile for the 76th Annual Reese’s Senior Bowl. It could very well be called the ‘Who’s Who’ of the NFL universe.
While the general manager and head coach sightings have been down compared to previous years, quite a few made their way to the prestigious event, including Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll of the New York Giants, Nick Caserio and DeMeco Ryans of the Houston Texans, Omar Kahn and Mike Tomlin of the Pittsburgh Steelers, John Lynch of the San Francisco 49ers and New England Patriots headman Mike Vrabel.
In addition, a handful of former NFL general managers have formed to create a new scouting service offered to NFL teams called Sumer Sports, spearheaded by Thomas Dimitroff, which included an entourage of Mike Mayock and Phil Emery making the on-field rounds. Many thanks to Reese’s Senior Bowl executive director Jim Nagy for rolling out the red carpet for us to gain inside access to the event. Let’s dive in! (Photo: @seniorbowl)
SENIOR BOWL RECAP: DAY 1 PRACTICE 1
Some potential first round prospects took the field at Hancock Whitney Stadium during the National Team practice. Marshall pass-rusher Mike Green came in short at weigh-ins with 32-inch arms but showed up in a big way on the field, displaying burst, bend and power during one-on-one drills. Minnesota offensive tackle Aireontae Ersery looks to be a plug-and play starter due to his size, strength and technique. The biggest winner of the day may have been North Dakota State offensive lineman Grey Zabel, who stepped in at multiple spots and dominated the competition.
SENIOR BOWL RECAP: DAY 1 PRACTICE 2
The American Team practice featured great competition at quarterback with Jalen Milroe of Alabama, Jaxson Dart of Mississippi and Riley Leonard of Notre Dame practicing side-by-side. However, the talent in the trenches was intense, as small school standout Carson Vinson of Alabama A&M stood tall against top-caliber competition, while mammoth defensive tackles Deone Walker of Kentucky and Cam’Ron Jackson of Florida are two of the more imposing figures in Mobile.
