The marquee matchup between Oregon and Penn State produced plenty of fireworks with numerous NFL scouts in attendance to observe two premier prospects at the quarterback position in Dante Moore of the Ducks and Drew Allar of the Nittany Lions. It resulted in a huge statement game for Moore, who has not only elevated himself as a Heisman frontrunner but also as the potential number one overall pick in the draft. No signal-caller has been more efficient, or more consistent than Moore through the first month of the college football season. With ice water running through his veins, Moore carved up the ferocious Penn State defense with quick decisions, well-timed passes and beautiful touch, displaying why he should be viewed as a top quarterback prospect in the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft. Moore leads the charge in this week’s edition of the ‘AAF Scout Notebook.’
Other players who caught our attention over the weekend include another potential round one quarterback, a pair of running backs from Virginia who have next level aspirations, one receiver who has established himself as a Day 1 talent and another wideout who brings elite speed. Plus, we shine the spotlight on a few offensive tackle prospects who should be gone by Day 2. On defense, we have highlighted a big-play linebacker on the rise, two cornerbacks who project to be taken amongst the top 50 overall selections and a safety whose special teams flare could lead to him hearing his name called on Day 3.
