SCOUT NOTEBOOK: TY SIMPSON ROLLS ON
In what was built as a highly anticipated matchup between two SEC contenders, the Alabama Crimson Tide walloped the Vanderbilt Commodores this Saturday on the back of another stellar performance by quarterback Ty Simpson (photo: Alabama Athletics). During the Crimson Tide 30-14 victory, Simpson completed 22-of-31 passes for 240 yards and two touchdowns, converting all four red zone trips into scores, while connecting with eight different targets. On the season, Simpson now has a 13-to-1 touchdown-to-interception ratio, as his keen decision-making, poise and leadership were on full display once again. The former five-star recruit and son of a coach has taken an unorthodox path to stardom, having waited patiently for three years as a backup, a rare occurrence in the modern-day NCAA. His decision has proven fruitful, as he has now elevated himself both in the Heisman Trophy race and in the eyes of NFL evaluators. Simpson leads the charge in this week’s ‘Scout Notebook,’ featuring eight prospects who caught our attention this past weekend and are moving up draft boards.
Other players you will learn about include a pint-sized running back who packs big time punch, a wide receiver who made quick work against a potential first round cornerback prospect, another wideout who could rise amongst the top of the draft, an offensive lineman who is establishing himself as a dependable anchor, a hair-on-fire linebacker who was all over the field this past weekend, plus a trio of safeties who expect to hear their name called in the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft.
