2025 CFL DRAFT OVERVIEW
With the No.1 overall pick in the 2025 CFL Draft, the Calgary Stampeders selected wide receiver Damien Alford. The Montreal native spent four seasons at Syracuse before playing his final collegiate season at Utah and finished with 67 catches, for 1,291 yards (19.3 average) and seven touchdowns. At 6-foot-5 and 224 pounds, Alford timed 4.46 in the forty-yard dash at Big 12 pro day. He brings an exciting combination of size and speed to the Stampeders, who missed the playoffs for the first time since 2004.
Other CFL Draft notables include Indiana quarterback Kurtis Rourke, who was selected in the third round by the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Wilfred Laurier gunslinger Taylor Elgersma, who was chosen by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the second round. For Rourke, who was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in teh seventh round, his immediate future will focus solely on the NFL. As for Elgersma, he has tryouts lined up with the Buffalo Bills and Green Bay Packers. View complete results of the CFL Draft online at CFL.ca.
