NFL POWER RANKINGS
It’s time to separate the contenders from the pretenders. At this stage of the year, there are a handful of identifiable teams who own a legitimate shot at hoisting the Vince Lombardi Trophy at season’s end. In the AFC, no one is playing better than the Buffalo Bills. Their overall team unity is gelling on all fronts and they are doing it with relatively ‘low-level’ caliber ‘stars.’ The Kansas City Chiefs remain the biggest threat and opposing teams will also have to overcome the referee factor when facing them. In the NFC, while the Detroit Lions stay roaring hot, it’s the Philadelphia Eagles who have begun rolling at the right time. These two could be on a collision course for the league championship game. The Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens should not be counted out either and the Denver Broncos (not ranked) are a team no one will want to face in the first round come playoff time. The NFL is starting to heat up …

The big board is starting to take shape and we have identified the top blue-chip prospects eligible for the 2025 NFL Draft. All of the players ranked below still have college football eligibility remaining but it would be widely assumed that they will declare. The top four prospects would belong to the schools of Colorado and Michigan. We also have excellent diversity amongst offensive and defensive players amongst the top ten overall. Our draft coverage will be in-depth and comprehensive, as we bring you on location reports from all the major stops throughout the process.

NCAA TOP 25 RANKINGS
Is it possible that the more NCAA expands the College Football Playoffs, the more flawed the system becomes? The problem is that the selection committee appears to be choosing teams with the best record, rather then the best overall teams based on talent and performance. Case in point, what happens if/when Clemson defeats SMU this week. There should be some serious concerns surrounding the method of choice for the CFP selection process. Sorry Boise State but you will face your first ranked opponent this week in No.25 UNLV. It’s questionable whether they will defeat the Runnin’ Rebels this week and delusional to believe that the Broncos would beat any of the ten teams ranked below.

HEISMAN TROPHY WATCH
In a rare year where no quarterback jumped atop the race, we saw Colorado hybrid wideout/cornerback Travis Hunter and Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty stand out as the most consistent big game performers across the college football landscape. The quest for Jeanty to break Barry Sanders single-season rushing record of 2,628 remains, as he sits just 340 yards away. With the Broncos expected to make the playoffs, Jeanty could play up to five more games. However, the Heisman Trophy will be announced 10 days from now. For that, expect to hear Hunter have his name called in New York City on December 14th.

NFL QB RANKINGS
The NFL MVP contest is wide open as we enter the final month of the season. Surely, you could state a strong argument for any of the first four quarterbacks listed below. If Buffalo continues to circle the wagons, there could be a heavy sentiment amongst voters to give it to Josh Allen, who has never won the award. One could argue that the Bills recent run of five consecutive division titles would be viewed as a disappointment, if they are unable to take it the distance to New Orleans in February. Of course, there will be competition from the running backs this year. Baltimore runner Derrick Henry might cancel out Lamar Jackson in the voting process, while Saquan Barkley of the surging Eagles is starting to gain serious momentum.

NFL GENERAL MANAGER RANKINGS
In a rare public appearance, Houston GM Nick Caserio ripped the NFL for their handling of the Azeez Al-Shaair hit on Trevor Lawrence this week. It’s worth a listen, as some valid points are made. We have acknowledged Caserio as one of the best evaluators in the NFL since taking over as GM of the Texans. He should be commended for publicly backing his players. Another notable mention would be Howie Roseman who completely revamped the Eagles secondary this offseason by bringing back CJ Gardner-Johnson, moving James Bradberry to safety, then selecting rookie cornerbacks Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean via the draft. Well played, sir.

NFL HEAD COACH RANKINGS
We have some serious contenders for NFL Coach of the Year, including Mike Tomlin and his annually competitive Steelers squad, along with Dan Campbell and the overdue Detroit Lions. Suddenly, there seems to be a lot of smoke surrounding the demise of Kyle Shanahan in San Francisco but we won’t believe it, until we see it. Meanwhile, it should be noted that Cleveland headman Kevin Stefanski holds the distinction of being the only current NFL head coach to have won the award twice.
