NFL RULE CHANGE TO ALTER DRAFT … FOR THE GOOD
The NFL announced a rule change to the NFL Draft that is sure to make everyone happy. On Wednesday, the league implemented a reduction in time between first round selections from 10 minutes, down to eight minutes to make each pick.
With the first round typically lasting nearly five hours and ending around midnight, the move could shave off approximately an hour off the Day 1 festivities. Prior to 2007, NFL teams had 15 minutes to make their first round selections, it reduced to 10 minutes in 2008.
No other changes were announced for Day 2 or Day 3, as teams will have seven minutes in between picks for the second round, five minutes for round three-through-six and four minutes for the final seventh round selections.
