The New York Jets have positioned themselves well for the future under new general manager Darren Mougey. The organization added three players in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft and stockpiled three more additional first round picks for the 2027 NFL Draft. It will now be up to head coach Aaron Glenn and his staff to maximize the potential of their young core.

Still in search of a franchise signal-caller, New York has added all the auxiliary pieces needed to ensure success. They have drafted a pair of bookend offensive tackles in Armand Membou and Olu Fashanu (pic: New York Jets), along with a complimentary wideout in first round selection Omar Cooper Jr., to pair with emerging star receiver Garrett Wilson.

In fact, the Jets doubled down on offensive weapons, selecting tight end Kenyon Sadiq in round one of this year’s draft, after taking Mason Taylor in the second round one year earlier. Glenn has gone on the record stating that Taylor is on par for a breakout season, as he serves as a reliable underneath security blanket.

Additionally, New York has taken on several underachieving prospects who failed to impress with their original teams. Their mid-season fire sale resulted in them landing former Colts second round pick Adonai Mitchell. He provided glimpses of his upside during the ladder part of the season for New York and will be depended upon as a potential starter at wideout.

In an offseason cost-cutting move, the Jets shipped defensive end Jermaine Johnson to the Titans in exchange for promising young defensive tackle T’Vondre Sweat, a move that saved $13.4M in cap space. New York is betting on the upside in Sweat, another second round pick who has battled issues with his weight, while enduring injuries in his first two seasons.

When healthy, Sweat is a people-mover inside the trenches, capable of engulfing multiple bodies, while enabling his counterparts to take advantage of one-on-one situations. He’s just one of many fresh young faces who are bound to play a key role in the Jets hopeful resurgence.
