Welcome to ‘Draft Day.’ Over the past 365 days, NFL teams have invested countless hours in the blood, sweat and tears that goes into the NFL Draft scouting cycle.
It appears Cam Ward is set to become the number one overall selection for the Tennessee Titans. Beyond that, there are sure to be many surprises on the eventful weekend ahead.
The quarterback guessing game ends after tonight. With the Cleveland Browns, New York Giants, New Orleans Saints and Pittsburgh Steelers all in the market to add a signal-caller, we will find out where the dominoes land. It’s a polarizing list that includes Colorado legacy player Shedeur Sanders, Ole Miss gunslinger Jaxson Dart, Alabama dual-threat Jalen Milroe and the well-traveled Tyler Shough of Louisville. There is also a report that Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins would be willing to waive his no-trade clause following Day 1 of the draft. Once upon a time it was Aaron Rodgers waiting in the green room, now the NFL awaits his next decision.
We haven’t seen a running back create this amount of buzz in quite some time, as there are several teams reportedly vying for the services of Ashton Jeanty. It’s unlikely the Boise State product escapes the top five. No one can seem to peg where Arizona State dynamo wideout Tetairoa McMillan will land, while Penn State tight end Tyler Warren could enter the top ten. There are sure to be offensive linemen aplenty, with Will Campbell of LSU drawing buzz as the New England Patriots pick at number four overall.
On defense, Colorado two-way prospect Travis Hunter and Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter Jr. are widely viewed as the two best players in the draft. Others expected to draw top ten interest include Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham and Georgia linebacker Jalon Walker.
For the fans, it’s time to set back, open up the NFL Draft Bible and soak in the festivities. For NFL teams, it’s time to make the picks count …
