The 49ers ranked 8th overall, receiving high marks for ownership, coaching, strength staff, and their food program. Players consistently point to the team’s strong culture as its greatest strength. While they do provide daycare, they are one of only two teams that charge players for the service. An area for improvement is offering this benefit free of charge, as most teams currently do.
OVERVIEW
San Francisco has been mentioned amongst the NFC elites in recent seasons but injuries ravaged the team a year ago. Lots of changes were made during the offseason and an influx of youth was brought in via the draft, as San Francisco had a total of 11 selections, which is sure to raise the level of competition come August. They made a concerted effort to build the defense back up with their early selections. The duo of general manager John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan (photo: San Francisco 49ers) have provided extremely inconsistent results on a yearly basis, with four winning seasons and four losing seasons. This would appear to be a make-or-break year for team brass.

BUST OUT PLAYERS
There is still room to hop on board the Ricky Pearsall (photo: San Francisco 49ers) hype train. The 49ers first round pick endured a nightmare start to the season after being shot in the chest during a robbery attempt just days before the start of the regular season. He would go on to make an amazing recovery and never made the impact that was necessarily expected. Fast forward one year later and there is a belief around the team that Persall could emerge as the team’s leading receiver this year … One of the unsung heroes for San Francisco was right guard Dominick Puni. The third round pick was entrusted into the starting right guard role and exceeded all projections with his performance and wound up with nearly 1,100 snaps on offense … When linebacker Dre Greenlaw defected for Denver, it created a void in the linebacker corps. San Francisco brass believes that Dee Winter is on the verge of a breakout season in year number three. Similar to Greenlaw, he brings a fast, physical, downhill style of play on defense and has bided his time patiently. The time would appear to be now for Winter to transform this season.
2025 NFL DRAFT CLASS
ROUND | PICK | TEAM | PLAYER | POSITION | SCHOOL
Rd.1 No.11. Mykel Williams, ER, Georgia — Few players possess the type of upside of Williams, who brings great length, exceptional athleticism and raw pass-rush technique. Playing opposite of Nick Bosa could create fruitful results.
Rd.2 No.43. Alfred Collins, DT, Texas — While Collins comes with some injury history, he’s a space eater who can be disruptive from the interior, or exterior. He commands multiple bodies, which should help free up others around him.
Rd.3 No.75. Nick Martin, LB, Oklahoma State — A pure tackle machine who hovers the field like a drone, Martin flies to the football is an astute open-field tackler and could look to challenge for a starting role as soon as this year.
Rd.3 No.100. Upton Stout, CB, Western Kentucky — The ultimate try-hard type, Stout stands in at just under 5-foot-9 but brings rare instincts and ball skills. He is a threat to score with the ball in his hands but could face increased size mismatches in the pros.
Rd.4 No.113. CJ West, DT, Indiana — Big, small, or in between, the 49ers clearly don’t have any specific size requirements. Rather, they seemed to stay true to their board and select the best player available. West is an undersized, uber-athletic three-technique.
Rd.4 No.138. Jordan Watkins, WR, Ole Miss — One of the fastest players in the draft, Watkins possesses great speed, is an excellent route runner who can create separation but is a little stiff in the hips. He should compete as a slot threat.
Rd.5 No.147. Jordan James, RB, Oregon — At this stage, the team can ill-afford to leave the cupboard bare once again behind Christian McCaffrey who is coming off major injury. James is a hard-nosed gritty runner who can fight for extra yards.
Rd.5 No.160. Marques Sigle, S, Kansas State — An incredible combination of speed, athleticism and instincts, Sigle is an aggressive defender with a propensity for creating turnovers and should serve as a huge special teams asset.
Rd.7 No.227. Kurtis Rourke, QB, Indiana — Hey, the organization struck seventh round gold once before with Brock Purdy, why not try and replicate the success with another developmental quarterback who has flashed major arm talent.
Rd.7 No.249. Connor Colby, OG, Iowa — A fundamentally sound guard with power, Colby utilizes a strong hand jab and lateral mobility to fend off defenders. Somewhat of a limited athlete, he compensates with smarts and technique.
Rd.7 No.252. Junior Bergen, WR, Montana — The son of 49ers special teams coach Brant Boyer, the small school product will attempt to earn a spot on the roster as a return man, a role that Bergen thrived in during his time with the Grizzlies.
