CFL TAKES SUMMER STAGE AS WE APPROACH JULY
The National Football League has done a phenomenal job of creating ‘no offseason’ with their year-round league schedule but we have arrived to the slowest time of the calendar. Likewise, the United Football League has also wrapped up their second season, as several players from the spring league have landed NFL contracts.
That leaves the Canadien Football League as the premier football league currently in-play. One month into the season, it has become apparent that undefeated Montreal is the beast of the East division, while Saskatchewan has proven to be a force early on in the West Division.
If you haven’t paid close attention, don’t worry, there is still plenty of time to catchup, as the CFL will feature a game every night this week, starting on Thursday. As a reminder, fans can watch every CFL game at no cost on CFL+.
Here’s a look at the latest All Access Football CFL Power Rankings, along with a snapshot overview for each franchise. You will also find our NFL, UFL, ELF, IFL and AF1 Power Rankings below.
CFL POWER RANKINGS
RANK || TEAM || RECORD
Montreal Alouettes (3-0): A suffocating Montreal defense was responsible for five sacks during the Alouettes 38-28 beatdown of Edmonton. No one is playing better than quarterback Davis Alexander right now, who completed 20-of-24 passes, for 254 yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions before giving way to McLeod Bethel-Thompson due to precautionary reasons for a hamstring pull. Big play wideout Tyson Philpot reeled in eight balls, for 96 yards and one score, while defensive back Lorenzo Burns led the defense with eight tackles, along with a forced fumble. Montreal travels to Hamilton in Week 4.
Winnipeg Blue Bombers (2-0): It was more of the same for Winnipeg last week, as the offense got rolling behind quarterback Zach Collaros, who picked up his 50th career win and notched his 200th career touchdown pass during the Blue Bombers 27-14 thumping over BC. Emerging wideout Keric Wheatfall had 86 yards and now leads the CFL with four ‘big-play’ receptions (30+ yards) through two games. With running back Brady Olivera still out due to injury, Quinton Cooley made his league debut, picking up 43 rushing yards on seven carries, alongside Matthew Peterson, who carried the ball 11 times for 42 yards. On defense, safety Jamal Parker was all over the field, collecting one interception and returning a fumble lateral 57 yards for a touchdown. Winnipeg will host Edmonton in Week 4.
Saskatchewan Roughriders (3-0): Saskatchewan is clicking on all cylinders, as they remain undefeated after beating Toronto, 39-32, behind a potent offense attack. Quarterback Trevor Harris completed 13-of-17 passes, for 234 yards, two touchdowns and one interception, while running back AJ Ouellette contributed 91 yards on 17 carries and one touchdown, along with speedster Dohnte Meyers who hauled in four catches, for 125 yards and two scores. On defense, Habakkuk Baldonado forced a fumble and Tevaughn Campbell recorded an interception. However, most impressive has been the play of Mario Alford, who returned a 99 yard kick for touchdown with just nine seconds remaining in the game. On the season, Alford has 540 combined return yards and he now sits second in CFL history with four career kickoff return touchdowns. Saskatchewan will host BC in Week 4.
Toronto Argonauts (0-3): Toronto fell 39-32 in a sloppy affair against Saskatchewan, dropping to 0-3 for the first time since 2019, when they began 0-6 to start the season. The Argonauts were flagged for 11 penalties, sending head coach Ryan Dinwiddie (photo: Toronto Argonauts) into a post-game rant about the lack of team discipline. Quarterback Nick Arbuckle leads the CFL with 841 passing yards filling in for the injured Chad Kelly but much of that is a result of constantly playing from behind. Former Howard offensive lineman Anim Dankwah, a sixth round draft pick by the Argos in the 2024 CFL Draft made his league debut. The Argos also added former Edmonton defensive tackle J-min Pelley to the practice roster. Toronto will travel to Ottawa in Week 4.
Calgary Stampeders (2-1): It was a down game for Vernon Adams, who completed 17-of-32 passes, for 218 yards and one interception, as Calgary was dealt their first loss of the year by Ottawa 20-12 in front of their home fans. The Stampeders have one of the most potent ground attacks north of the border, as Dedrik Mills leads the CFL with 281 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns. Former Arizona State standout Eno Benjamin also made his league debut in the backfield and more help is on the way. It was announced earlier this week that future CFL Hall of Fame inductee Adam Bighill would be joining the Stampeders. A three-time Grey Cup champion and three-time CFL Most Outstanding Defensive Player of the Year, Bighill has appeared in 210 career games in 12 seasons, including postseason play and has been named All-CFL six times. Calgary will have a bye in Week 4.
Ottawa Redblacks (1-2): With starting quarterback Dru Brown still out due to a hip injury, Ottawa turned to backup Dustin Crum, who made his first start since Oct. 28, 2023. Crum would rally the Redblacks past Calgary 20-12, completing 9-of-22 passes, for 111 yards and one touchdown, while adding 64 rushing yards. Ottawa seems to have found an effective one-two punch in the backfield with running backs William Stanback and Daniel Adeboboye splitting carries. The Redblacks had 11 players on their one-game injured list and three more on the six-game, as they look to get healthier over the next several weeks. Ottawa will host Winnipeg in Week 4.
BC Lions (1-2): The BC offense struggled once again without starting quarterback Nathan Rourke, as journeyman Jeremiah Masoli got the call, completing 25-of-44 passes, for 281 yards and one touchdown. Unfortunately, Masoli would commit three costly turnovers, as the Lions suffered their first defeat of the season 27-14 by the hands of Winnipeg. BC deep ball threat Keon Hatcher currently leads the CFL with 294 receiving yards. On defense, safety Tyler Coyle made his league debut. BC will travel to undefeated Saskatchewan in Week 4.
Hamilton Tiger Cats (0-2): Hamilton comes off the bye week in seek of their first victory, as head coach Scott Milanovich has placed an emphasis on better ball security. Turnovers have been costly for the Tiger-Cats early on, as gunslinger Bo Levi-Mitchell has tossed two interceptions, to just one touchdown pass thus far. Superstar wideout Kenny Lawler has been a high impact addition and is currently second in the CFL with 249 receiving yards. Opposing teams will have their hands full attempting to slow down both Lawler and counterpart Tim Smith. On defense, Jonathan Moxey is tied for the league lead with two interceptions, while Isaiah Wooden has been a revelation in the return game, racking up 250 all-purpose yards. With two weeks to prepare, Hamilton will host Montreal in Week 4.
Edmonton Elks (0-2): It was déjà vu all over again for Edmonton, who trailed 28-6 entering the fourth quarter but would rally to lose 38-28 to Montreal, who was clearly the dominant team. The Elks finished 7-12 a year ago after beginning the season 0-7. Rather than build off that momentum, new ownership decided to clean house once again, churning over half the roster and the entire coaching staff. The offense has struggled mightily, while the defense has been the worst in the league. As usual, linebacker Nick Anderson led the team with nine tackles. On a positive note, there have been flashes of improved special teams play, as punter Cody Grace leads the CFL with a 51.55 punt average, while Aubrey Miller has made five tackles as a gunner. Edmonton will travel to Winnipeg for a Thursday night affair during Week 4 action.

ARENA FOOTBALL ONE CHAMPIONSHIP SET
The Arena Crown championship game for AF1 is scheduled for Saturday, June 28, 2025 at MVP Arena in Albany, New York, as the undefeated Albany Firebirds (11-0) will host the Nashville Kats (7-4).
Albany quarterback Sam Castronova led all AF1 passers with 48 touchdowns during the regular season. He will look to connect early and often with his top playmaker in wideout Duane Brown, who was on the receiving end for 30 of those scoring hauls.
Nashville quarterback Tyler Kulka led the Kats to victory in the semifinals, as he was able to win a shootout against Jalen Morton and the Southwest Kansas Storm. One player to keep an eye on is Kats offensive lineman Payton Muljo, who caught a 13-yard touchdown pass last week and has received interest from several CFL teams.
In other AF1 news, two-time Daytona 500 champion Michael Waltrip joined former NFL head coaches Jeff Fisher and Jon Gruden as part of the Nashville Kats ownership group on June 20.
Coverage of the final game for the inaugural Arena Football One season begins at 1:00p ET, exclusively on VICE TV.
