The San Antonio Toros (3-0) defeated the Texas Syndicate (1-2) by a score of 56-6 on Saturday at Wheatley Heights Stadium in San Antonio, Texas. Toros star quarterback Will Arndt continues to state his case as the CoFL MVP, as he completed 19-of-27 passes, for 422 yards and three touchdowns (one interception).
One of the most consistent players through the first month of the season has been Toros wideout Cam Echols-Luper. He reeled in five catches, for 173 yards and two touchdowns in Week 4 and should be viewed as a CFL candidate once rosters expand in September. Another player who made a big contribution is former quarterback-turned-wideout Lance LeGendre, who finished with five receptions, for 119 yards.
The Jerry Glanville-led defense features several players who could receive looks in other pro leagues such as the NFL, or UFL, including safety Obi Melifonwu, who continues to show up around the football and finished with seven tackles.
San Antonio defensive end Thomas Ibrahim racked up three tackles for loss, including two sacks. Fellow defensive end Myles McHaney has been a weekly standout, as he added five tackles (one for loss) and a forced fumble. Newly signed pass-rusher Aaron Ortiz made his Toros debut, registering three tackles.
Every facet of the game has been clicking for the Toros, as kicker Kenneth Almendares connected on all five of his field goal attempts, including a long of 46 yards. It remains to be seen whether the Toros can actually be beaten.

Other CoFL action included the Tall City Black Gold (1-2), who bounced back from their loss to the Toros a week ago to defeat the Texas Herd (0-1) by a score of 44-6 at Astound Broadband Stadium in Austin, Texas.
Tall City quarterback Trey Goodman tossed three touchdown passes and ran for one more, as his dual-threat ability gave the Herd fits all game long. Goodman hooked up with wideout Elijah Roundtree on a 53-yard score to go up early 16-0 and the offense never looked back.
On defense, Tall City linebacker Justin Whiteside had a 54-yard scoop and score fumble recovery, which put the Black Gold up to 30-0. Fellow safety Coby Calvin would respond with a 64-yard fumble recovery touchdown for the final score.
Next up, Tall City Black Gold (1-2) will host the San Antonio Toros (3-0) in a pivotal Week 5 league matchup on Sunday, June 28 at 7:00pm eastern time. Meanwhile, the Texas Syndicate (1-2) will host the Texas Herd (0-1) on Saturday, June 27 at 7:00pm eastern time.
