COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF: JEANTY ON A MISSION
The first of four College Football Playoff quarterfinal games will be played this evening in the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl. It’s a fascinating matchup between the best offensive college football player in the nation, against the top defense he has ever faced during his career.
The Boise State team arrived to Glendale, Arizona with t-shirts on that read, ‘Please count us out.’ Something no one should ever do when it comes to Broncos running back Ashton Jeanty.
Many adjectives can be used to describe the elusive runner; tough, gritty, quick, strong and overall rare. If any unit is up to the challenge of halting him, it is the stout Penn State defense, which is ranked number four overall in the country and has allowed a paltry 3.1 rushing yards per attempt on the season.
When a freight train hits a brick wall, something, or somebody has got to give. One of the most impressive traits of Jeanty is his out of this world contact balance. Of his 2,497 rushing yards, an eye-popping 1,900 of those yards came after contact!
A compact runner who blends speed and power, the consensus All-American and Heisman Trophy runner-up is on a mission to break the all-time NCAA single season rushing record set by Barry Sanders in 1988. He needs 132 yards in order to do so.
While making the playoffs was an accomplishment in itself for the mid-major Boise State team, for Jeanty, it means much more.
It is the first ‘Power 4’ defense that he has faced all year. A record-setting victory over Penn State would not only etch his name into the NCAA record books forever but also cement his status in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft as a premier talent.
The stage is set. The combatants are ready. Tune-in tonight for this historic battle, as we are treated to one of the greatest College Football Playoff contests ever, since it’s inception ten years ago.

BRADY COOK-ING WITH GAS IN MUSIC CITY BOWL
We have saved some limelight in this space for the undervalued Brady Cook of Missouri. A three-year starter, Cook has been the epitome of a leader for the Tigers and will leave a lasting legacy behind.
On Monday, he saved his best for last, guiding Missouri to a come from behind victory over Iowa in the TransPerfect Music City Bowl. Trailing by ten points, Cook would rally the offense late in the game, demonstrating his poise under pressure and departing Nashville with a 27-24 victory.
It was a wonderful ending to a lustrous career for Cook, who would finish with a season-high 287 passing yards and two touchdowns, while adding 54 rushing yards. When you factor in his winning ways, experience, smarts and charisma, Cook is one college quarterback who may not be drafted very high but could go on to have a long, successful career as a dependable backup.
He won’t have to wait long for his next opportunity. Cook will report to Orlando next week for the Caribe Royale Hula Bowl, making him one to watch for in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft.
