BOWL GAME MANIA — RISERS & PROSPECT PRIMER
We have prospects for all eight games in action on Saturday. Scroll down below for all the matchups on tap. First, here’s a look at some NFL Draft risers from yesterday.
LINKS: NFL DRAFT WATCH BOWL GAME MANIA || CFB PLAYOFF PROSPECTS
QB Kyle McCord, Syracuse, Sr, 6025, 221, 4.80: After being shown the door by Ohio State after last year, McCord found greener pastures in upstate New York, enjoying a season for the ages. He ended his college career with a bang, passing for 453 yards and five touchdowns in the DirecTV Holiday Bowl. McCord finished the year with 4,779 passing yards, setting a new ACC single-season record, previously held by DeShaun Watson (4,593). Next stop, the East-West Shrine Bowl.
TE Jalin Conyers, Texas Tech, Sr, 6040, 267, 4.70: A potential Day 3 prospect, Conyers flashed his versatility during the Auto Zone Liberty Bowl, lining up in the backfield on multiple occasions, while adding a rushing touchdown. He has proved to be a reliable pass-catcher with at least 30 catches in each of the past three seasons. In addition, he has totaled 30 carries the past two years, while adding three scores via the ground. He’ll head to Dallas next month for the East-West Shrine Bowl as well.
TE Eli Stowers, Vanderbilt, rJr, 6035, 234, 4.59: A name worth filing for the draft season, Stowers is one prospect who could rise up boards. A raw, athletic pass-catching threat, the former quarterback continues to display vast development in his transition. Stowers grabbed four passes, for 55 yards and one score during the Birmingham Bowl. Also invited to the East-West Shrine Bowl, Stowers looks to carry his momentum into the new year and is expected to test well at the NFL Combine.
CB Rayuan Lane III, Navy, Sr, 5104, 194, 4.50: Few players from the military academies have had a bigger impact than Lane III during his time in Annapolis. A four-year starter, Lane III is a physical, aggressive ball-hawk whose not afraid to get his nose dirty. He tallied four tackles in the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl, bringing his career total to 244. More impressive is his propensity for turnovers over the past two years, including six interceptions, two of which he took back to the house.
S Akili Arnold, USC, rSr, 5106, 200, 4.54: Despite a disappointing season for the Trojans, the defense was a bright spot under new defensive coordinator D’Anton Lynn, who has an extensive NFL background. No one benefited more from his arrival than Arnold, who earned the right to wear the green dot communication helmet on defense, a role usually reserved for the middle linebacker. Arnold was back at it again in the SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl, recording six tackles and an interception.
