All Access Football was on location for Day 9 of Miami Dolphins training camp on Saturday, August 8. It was the first in-stadium team practice at Hard Rock Stadium for the team. Field conditions were pristine and the South Florida heat was out in full-effect. The session included a team “tackle-to-the-ground” period for the first time in camp, which intensified the competition and physicality once practice got going. The offensive line had a few struggles on the day (mainly on the right side of the line), as the interior defensive line was constantly disrupting plays in the backfield repeatedly.
Below are five key takeaways from Ravens Training Camp by NFL Draft Bible scout Kelyn Varona …
1. Miami first round pick Kadyn Proctor (pictured), who played left tackle at Alabama, looks a bit raw inside manning the left guard position but his floor is tremendously high, as he possesses major upside. Playing with a noticeable physicality when driving through his blocks, Proctor always seems to be moving, or pushing the pile forward. The more reps he receives, the more comfortable he should become with being patient deploying his hands—Proctor packs a powerful punch. As a comparison, former Dolphins offensive lineman Ju’Wuan James comes to mind, in terms of having a similar body frame and technique displayed early on in camp. Rarely losing any one-on-one reps, Proctor is a ‘wall’ to get around. If he can maintain his weight throughout the season, he looks to be a pick that the Dolphins will have hit on.
