When it comes to the NFL Draft, oftentimes you will hear personnel men reference just trying to hit singles and doubles. For Houston Texans general manager Nick Caserio, he tends to hit home runs. Since taking over as general manager in 2021, few front office departments, if any, have done a more efficient job of finding talent on all three days of the NFL Draft.

Credit Caserio for turning the franchise around from pretenders-to-contenders during the 2023 NFL Draft with his draft day maneuvers to select quarterback CJ Stroud and linebacker Will Anderson (pic: NFL). Those two selections helped to transform the entire culture of the club. He has also uncovered Pro Bowl talent such as Kamari Lassiter, a second round pick and Calen Bullock, a third round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

In 2025, the Texans added to their wideout corps with second round selection Jayden Higgins and third round pick Jaylin Noel. Both players are expected to have an integral role in the offense once again, especially Higgins, a lengthy boundary target who emerged as the number two receiver behind Nico Collins by the end of last season.

However, in order for Stroud to strive the team must improve their pass protection, specifically offensive tackle Aireontae Ersery. Another second round pick from the 2025 NFL Draft, he was thrust into the starting lineup as a rookie and flashed glimpses of great potential but did allow eight sacks. He’ll be counted on to shore up that area of his game this season.

Overall, Houston is positioned to contend for the next several years due to their abundance of young players. A true indicator is the list of players who failed to make the list of top 10 prospects under the age of 25 below. Promising safety Jaylen Reed (23), a sixth round pick, demonstrated the ability to play both safety spots as a rookie after hurdling his early season injury woes.

Other players who failed to make the cut but are worth monitoring in training camp include wideout Lewis Bond (23), tight end Marlin Klein (23), linebacker Aiden Fisher (22), cornerbacks Jaylin Smith (22) and Collin Wright (22), along with safety Kamari Ramsey (21). Keep reading to find out which Texans players made the final cut.
