ON LOCATION: NEW YORK GIANTS SCRIMMAGE
After departing Chapel Hill, the next stop on the All Access Football Training Camp Tour brought us back to our home bed at the Jersey Shore, 497 miles northeast with an early morning wake up call at East Rutherford, NJ for New York Giants training camp. This was the second day of joint scrimmage practices, as both teams are seeking stability at the quarterback position. For the New York Giants, plenty of excitement is in the air for 2025. Here are five key observations made during the visit:
1. Quarterback Jackson Dart has got the swag.
More so than any rookie signal-caller to enter the NFL this season. The polar opposite of how Daniel Jones, or Eli Manning conducted themselves, the boisterous Dart brings loads of confidence and an adrenaline that fuels the fire. There is no fear attempting to squeeze the ball into tight windows and he plays with a very aggressive mindset. This might be part of the attitude adjustment needed, in order to help head coach Brian Daboll change the culture.
2. The season hinges on superstar wide receiver Malik Nabers.
It’s evident that the G-Men lack explosive playmakers. If they are to keep up on the scoreboard with their NFC East foes, Nabers is going to be vital. Currently nursing a toe injury, which has carried over from his LSU days, Nabers has been held out of practice in what he describes as workload management. He admits that the toe may eventually require surgery and he dealt with a shoulder injury earlier in camp. The health of Nabers is one storyline worth monitoring, as the Giants offense will be extremely limited without him in the lineup.
3. Evan Neal is a reclamation project who finds himself playing for a job.
