The Broncos arranged marriage of general manager George Paton and head coach Sean Payton has worked wonderfully, taking a franchise that seemed to be in salary cap purgatory and turning it into a legitimate Suer Bowl contender. Unbeknownst to many, the team’s fortunes would take a turn for the better during the 2024 NFL Draft.
Despite being selected as the sixth quarterback of the draft, Bo Nix has outperformed them all in the win column, owning the best record (24-10) as a starter amongst the class. Prior to his selection of Nix, who earned Pro Bowl honors this past season, Paton nailed his first round selections, including kick return extraordinaire Marvin Mims (2023), pass-rush specialist Nik Bonitto and lockdown cornerback Patrick Surtain (2021).
