It all starts in the trenches for the Dallas Cowboys. A glance back at the past five years reveal that the organization has placed great emphasis on building from the inside-out. In 2022, Dallas selected offensive tackle Tyler Smith in round one and defensive end Sam Williams in round two.
In 2023, the franchise utilized their Day 1 pick on defensive tackle Mazi Smith and chose inline blocking tight end Luke Schoonmaker on Day 2. In 2024, it was much of the same, as the Cowboys selected offensive tackle Tyler Guyton in round one and defensive end Marshawn Kneeland (RIP) in round two.
That trend would continue once again in 2025, as team brass drafted offensive guard Tyler Booker in the first round and defensive end Donovan Ezeiruaku in the second round. Combined, that’s 2,353 pounds of pure beef!
Dallas would slightly deviate from that plan in 2026, taking Ohio State safety Caleb Downs with the No.11 overall pick, which could prove to be the greatest value selection of the entire draft class. However, on Day 2 they stayed true to form, adding defensive end Malachi Lawrence. (pic: Cowboys)
