2027 NFL DRAFT TRACKER: PENN STATE NITTANY LIONS
Location: University Park, PA || Conference: B1G || Head Coach: Matt Campbell (1st Year; Career: 107-70) || Number of 2026 NFL Draft Picks: 8 || Nittany Lions in NFL: 59 (as of 6/14/26)
The transition from James Franklin (Virginia Tech) to Matt Campbell, who arrives from Iowa State has resulted in plenty of roster turnover in ‘Happy Valley.’ While Penn State lost quite a few notable players to Franklin, they also imported several Cyclones players expected to make a significant impact.
Last season was a year that the football program would like to forget, as high expectations quickly faded into the state of oblivion. However, the school still managed to produce eight draft choices for the 2026 NFL Draft, including first round pick Vega Ioane (Ravens). While roles are still being defined and the roster will need to be meshed, Penn State rivals any Big Ten team from an overall talent perspective.
Penn State returns linebacker Tony Rojas (pic: PSU Athletics), who had his season cut short due to a torn ACL last October. His ball-hawk prowess, quick instincts and solid open-field tackling create a dependable presence in the middle of the Nittany Lions defense. Playing behind him will be heat-seeking safety Marcus Neal, one of several Iowa State transfers.
Also following Campbell over from Ames is quarterback Rocco Becht, a gutsy three-year starter for the Cyclones who has engineered multiple winning streaks throughout his career. He’ll have a pair of familiar targets with import tight ends Benjamin Brohmer and Gabe Burkle, who also found their way over from Iowa State. Expect this to be a competitive, exciting Penn State football team that goes onto produce numerous Sunday players.
