2027 NFL DRAFT TRACKER: UCLA BRUINS

Break up the Bruins, as this program is currently flying under the radar but based on the track record of new head coach Bobby Chesney, expect a fast-track towards a quick turnaround. However, it won’t be an easy task. Last season, UCLA (3-9) endured its worst season since 1971 (2-7-1) and had zero players selected in the 2026 NFL Draft. Turnover was aplenty, as Chesney brought in 40 new transfer portal commitments, while 20 members of the team exited via the portal.
Clearly, patience will be required as Chesney begins to mesh all the new parts but they do have a top-caliber quarterback in Nico Iamaleava (pic: UCLA Athletics), who has had his fair share of ups and downs, while flashing polarizing potential. Both UCLA and Iamaleava are on their fourth head coach in as many seasons. After making the biggest strides of his career in 2025, this could final be the year that Iamaleava flourishes.
The backfield will feature a new lead runner, as Wayne Knight was one of several James Madison players who followed Chesney out west. A Second-Team All American, Knight racked up 2,039 all-purpose yards a year ago and put an exclamation point on the season by earning Sun Belt MVP honors. His presence should make for a balanced offensive attack.
