2027 NFL DRAFT TRACKER: WISCONSIN BADGERS
Location: Madison, WI || Conference: B1G || Head Coach: Luke Fickell (3 Years: 17-21; Overall: 80-46) || NFL Draft Picks Under Fickell: 7 (2.3 per year) || First Round Picks Under Fickell: 0 || Number of 2026 NFL Draft Picks: 2 || Badgers in NFL: 38 (as of 7/21/26)
The Badgers program has been backpedaling since the arrival of head coach Luke Fickell. Wisconsin has seen their win total fall from seven-wins in 2023, to five-wins in 2024 and down to just four victories in 2025. This can be largely attributed to the lack of NIL funds that the school has been unable to generate. As a direct result, the Badgers have taken a step back from producing next level prospects.
As recently as the 2024 NFL Draft, Wisconsin was still churning out top-end talent such as second round selections Joe Tippman (Jets) and Keanu Benton (Steelers), plus fourth round gem Nick Herbig (Steelers). In 2025, the school produced a pair of early Day 3 picks in Tanor Bortolini (Colts) and Braelen Allen (Jets), both chosen in the fourth round.
This past year, during the 2026 NFL Draft, Wisconsin had just two players selected, Jack Nelson (Falcons) and Hunter Wohler (Colts), both of whom went in the seventh round. Much of the same is to be expected for the Badgers in the upcoming 2027 NFL Draft. However, there are several players worth monitoring that could enhance their draft stock with a strong season.
A high profile portal acquisition, shifty running back Abu Sama III (pic: Wisconsin Athletics) arrives from Iowa State to form an entirely new backfield, which also features former Old Dominion quarterback Colton Joseph. An elite dual-threat talent, Joseph passed for 2,624 yards and ran for an additional 1,007 yards in 2025, accounting for 34 total touchdowns (10 interceptions). Both players will have an opportunity to build upon their draft stock in ACC play.
