There was much optimism upon the announcement of well-established head coach Bill O’Brien as the new headman atop Chestnut Hill. Fast forward three years later; the difficult realities of NIL fundraising and ‘Keeping Up with the Joneses’ in recruiting have since sobered those sentiments. After inheriting a winning program from previous head coach Jeff Hasley (Dolphins), the Eagles have regressed, winning just two games in 2025.
Despite the lack of success on the field, Boston College managed to produce four draft picks in the 2026 NFL Draft. It was not too long ago that the program produced back-to-back first round picks in offensive guard Zion Johnson (Chargers) and wide receiver Zay Jones (Ravens) during the 2022 and 2023 NFL Drafts.
While it doesn’t appear that the Eagles will have any premier prospects for the upcoming 2027 NFL Draft, they do have several players who could vie as mid-to-late round selections. Most notably, versatile safety KP Price, who lined up all over the field last season. His projection to the pros is still to be determined, as some NFL scouts view him as a linebacker.
One player to keep an eye on is redshirt sophomore Pape Abdoulaye Sy (pic: BC Athletics), who is draft-eligible but is more likely a player who could arise in the 2028, or 2029 draft based on his development. The Senegal native possesses extraordinary length, along with brute strength and raw instincts. He is expected to start at left tackle this upcoming season and owns plenty of upside.
