2027 NFL DRAFT TRACKER: CALIFORNIA GOLDEN BEARS

Location: Berkeley, CA || Conference: ACC || Head Coach: Tosh Lupoi (First Year) || Number of 2026 NFL Draft Picks: 1 || Golden Bears in NFL: 23 (as of 7/18/26)

After nine years at the helm and just one year with a winning record, head coach Juston Wilcox was shown the door at the end of last season, producing a 48-55 overall record. Enter Tosh Lupoi, a first-time head coach, where he returns to his roots as both a player and grad assistant. Like many programs, offseason turnover ran rampant, as nearly half the California roster has been flipped.

The Golden Bears winded up finishing with a 7-6 record overall last season but fared poorly against ‘Power Four,’ competition, which has simmered expectations headed into 2026 (the program has not been ranked since the 2019 season). Their lone draft pick in the 2026 NFL Draft was cornerback Hezekiah Masses (Raiders-Rd5). Looking ahead, several prospects stand a strong chance to hear their name called come April.

One newcomer who is expected to have a big impact is former Rutgers wideout Ian Strong (pic: RU Athletics), who poses as a tall, lengthy boundary target, who thrives in contested catch situations. The school also imported wideout Chase Hendricks from Ohio. A smaller-sized, twitched up slot target, Hendricks will be able to test opposing ACC defenses deep downfield.

In fact, Cal boasts some heavy ammunition on offense, with several players on the NFL radar. However, decision-makers will be most excited for emerging superstar quarterback Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele, who won’t be draft-eligible until the 2028 NFL Draft and could very well be in contention to become the No.1 overall pick.
