NFL Camp Kicks Off. All 32 NFL teams have officially reported to training camp, which is always an exciting time of year ... Unfortunately, the week began with another somber moment after the tragic murder of the wife of Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy ... Meanwhile, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan suffered significant injuries in a controversial car crash that has left the NFL media world buzzing ... The Washington Commanders fired tight ends coach Ben Steele less than four months on the job following his DWI charge and have since named former NFL wide receiver Wes Welker as his replacement ... Former quarterback Will Grier will join the Cowboys coaching staff for the 2026 season as an offensive assistant ... Patriots coach Mike Vrabel said that DeAndre Hopkins was with the team at the start of camp to explore coaching or scouting opportunities. However, his tenure lasted only one week ... Early in the week, North Carolina football general manager Michael Lombardi was placed on paid administrative leave by the university and is currently under investigation. Thus far, the school has declined comment on the highest paid GM in college football ... In a very unfortunate story, the Director of Content for University of Alabama Athletics’ NIL collective ‘Yea Alabama’ has been arrested, along with 15 others, as part of a human trafficking operation sting ... More NCAA legal woes this week: Baylor DL Hosea Wheeler has been granted a TRO in McLennan County, Texas, against the NCAA, while Oklahoma State DL Iman Oates has been granted a TRO against the NCAA in Payne County, Oklahoma ... Meanwhile, Ole Miss has filed breach-of-contract lawsuits against former players and current LSU players Devin Harper and Princewill Umanmielen ... Tennessee linebacker Arion Carter, who initially declared for the 2026 NFL Draft but decided to return back to school, has been suspended two games for paying his agent back $427 for a flight ... Kentucky has hired Pete Nocha as its new general manager, after Pat Biondo stepped down due to personal reasons ... Michigan head coach Kyle Whittingham is calling for a 48-60 team ‘Super League,’ that would essentially serve as a minor league NFL ... Stanford football players have formed a campus chapter of the College Football Players Association, becoming the first program to partner with the group pushing for collective bargaining for college athletes ... Florida State has built one of the country’s most dynamic performance spaces, featuring customizable training stations rooted in FSU tradition and a sound system inspired by a Las Vegas nightclub ... On3 has posted 2026 College Football valuations by school and the University of Texas tops the list at $2.46B ... NCAA teams continue to strike jersey patch deals with another wave announced this week. Amongst the announcements was Notre Dame, which signed a deal with SoFi worth $18-20M annually ... Ohio Stare is entering a new corporate partnership with JPMorganChase that includes jersey patches for all 36 OSU teams worth nearly $17M per year ... Illinois finalized a 5-year, $30M deal with Busey Bank and Temple has struck a deal with Grungo Law.
Football News. CBS Sports analyst Tony Romo may step back from his current analyst role following a well-documented OWI arrest in Wisconsin ... Netflix is hiring Panthers Hall of Fame linebacker Luke Kuechly to be its No.1 game analyst, pairing him with Noah Eagle ... CBS Sports has added former head coaches Brian Kelly and Doug Pederson as college football analysts for 2026 ... Former Michigan coach Biff Poggi will join the Big Ten Network this season as a college football analyst ... Former NFL quarterback Drew Brees is the passing game coordinator for Santa Fe Christian (CA), where his three sons attend high school ... Green Bay Packers all-time leading rusher Ahman Green revealed that he’s been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. He sat down with Tyler Dunne to discuss his diagnosis ... Billy Ray Smith Jr., former Chargers linebacker and College Football Hall of Famer, passed away at 64 ... Veteran college front office personnel Patrick Suddes is entering the agent arena, joining Ethos Sports Group as its director of college football.
